Robust and resilient, the Bactrian camel is perfectly adapted to the extreme conditions of the Central Asian steppes and deserts. Easily recognizable by its two humps, it is distinguished from the dromedary, which only has one.
Its humps do not contain water but rather fat reserves, which allow it to survive several days without food. Surprisingly, its thick fleece protects it equally well from the freezing cold of winters and the summer heat. An herbivore, it feeds on dry vegetation and can drink up to 100 liters of water at once when available. Domesticated for millennia, it was long essential for transporting caravans along the Silk Road.
This Papo figurine faithfully reproduces the Bactrian camel: thick fur, long sturdy legs, and characteristic humps. An ideal model to complete a wild animal collection, invent stories from the East, or teach children about the incredible adaptations of the animal world.
A great gift idea for curious children, animal enthusiasts, those discovering wildlife, and collectors of Papo figurines.
